Crisis Assistance Ministry Non-Event 2018

This is the 5th year I have worked with Crisis Assistance Ministry on their long-running "Non-Event" fundraising campaign. The concept: rather than invest in the expenses of hosting or attending a fancy gala, donors' contributions will go further toward the agency's mission of helping Charlotte families in financial crisis.

The campaign includes a wide array of graphics for ads, banner signage, website, and social media. This year's direct mail "invitation" featured a die-cut house shape and repetition of the string light motif from previous years' campaigns.

Tshirt Design: Cookies for Kids' Cancer

Charlotte's Cookies For Kids Cancer fundraising team has raised impressive amounts of money and awareness for the national charity, which funds pediatric cancer research. At their annual bake sale event on December 6, 2014, Charlotte-area events raised over $176,000! I worked with local leader Amy Christenbury to create a t-shirt design for sale at six area bake sale locations, which she said nearly outsold baked goods.

2014 Crisis Assistance Ministry Non-Event Campaign

Crisis Assistance Ministry is in the midst of their 20th annual Non-Event Gala campaign, an innovative fundraiser that invites their supporters to give without engaging the expenses and hassles of a traditional fundraising gala -- no caterers, no entertainment, no wardrobe decisions, no babysitters... No actual event.  Pretty brilliant, I think.

This year, I helped the Crisis campaign team to design branding for the event that evoked the imagery of a fine dining event (the traditional gift of the 20th anniversary is china!), including hand-lettered calligraphy and formal invitation styling.  In addition to printed "invitation", the campaign also included email marketing graphics, magazine ads, and a poster that is displayed at the organization's donation center. It is a great pleasure to work with this fantastic organization on such a creative campaign.

It is always a pleasure to assist our artist-neighbors at Urban Ministry Center's Artworks945 program with creating promotional materials for their annual fall art show. 

This organization is doing incredible work for the homeless of our community and through their Artworks945 outreach, they provide studio space, instruction, and an opportunity for neighbors to create and sell works of art.  There are always treasures to be found at the fall art show, and it is always a lovely evening rich with beauty and community.

Crisis Assistance Ministry: Match Challenge Campaign

It is always an honor to work with charitable organizations doing great work for our community. Crisis Assistance Ministry serves Charlotte families facing financial crisis by providing funds for rent and utility bills, as well as other support services.

One of Crisis's annual campaigns, Match Challenge, secures several large matching donors to provide other donors with the opportunity to double their gifts.

I worked with Campaign Manager Allie Kolhbush to create a campaign that included new branding to coordinate with the organization's logo, a fundraising letter, and graphics for email and web. The campaign logo utilized existing branding graphic elements and illustrated the Match concept with several large blocks balancing many smaller units.

Event: Love Thy Neighbor

We enjoyed an inspirational evening with The Harvest Center and special guest Kathie Lee Gifford tonight at the Westin, their biggest-ever "Love Thy Neighbor" annual fundraiser.  I was honored to help plan this event, to provide design of programs, banners and other visual marketing materials, and to participate as one of 900 guests in this lovely dinner!

I look forward to quality photography from the pros, but until then, share a few pre-party captures from this well-executed event.

Event Branding: Harvest Center "Love Thy Neighbor"

On October 24, 2013, The Harvest Center will host its biggest-ever, annual "Love Thy Neighbor" fundraiser. Artist and philanthropist Anne Neilson is co-chairing the elegant dinner event which will feature keynote speaker Kathie Lee Gifford and will include 900 guests.

Stir Studios is proud to serve as sponsor and steering committee member for the important fundraiser, which will serve Charlotte's homeless community through transformative work of the The Harvest Center.  Today, volunteers assembled our programs, which were printed beautifully (and generously!) by United Printing.

Hats off to Anne and co-chair Cindy Grantham for their extraordinary vision and organization. They've already raised over $100,000 in sponsorships!  Can't wait to celebrate this wonderful evening next week!

Fundraising Concert: Covers for a Cause

My friends at Family Support Network are fortunate to have been chosen as the beneficiary of this summer's installment of a great charity concert series, Covers for a Cause.  The organizers will donate 100% of proceeds to FSN, an organization that supports families of children with special needs.

Scheduled for July 31, 2013, at Charlotte's legendary Double Door Inn, the concert features some great local musicians -- Jim Avett, Mike Strauss, Bill Noonan and the Barbed Wires, Truckstop Preachers, Jim Garrett, The Loose Lugnuts, and The Turnstiles -- all performing the music of the late George Jones.

Mike Strauss, Jim Garrett and other Covers for a Cause artists will be performing on Charlotte Today on Friday, July 26, to promote the show.

I was happy to volunteer to design a poster for the event -- a great fundraising opportunity for my client, and a great opportunity for the rest of us to hear some talented and generous local musicians.
